Despite an exceptionally dry early autumn to date, the 50 local people who took part in the Friends of Bourne Wood Fungus Foray found bags-full of fascinating and unusual edible and non-edible fungi.

Expert advice and information was on hand from Vin Fleming, who told us about fungi being neither animal nor plant and that they grow in many different environments. Vin helped us to identify dozens of different fungi and even found a couple he couldn’t identify; these he enthusiastically took home to spend time with his identification books.
