New Monthly Event – Nature Walk – First Saturday of every month
We are leading a monthly nature walk, the first Saturday of every month, commencing February 7th, at 9am from the car park. It will not be led by an expert, but by a member of the Friends – just looking at what is about in the wood – whether it be birds, plants, signs of spring or animals. All Friends and their families welcome – including dogs on leads.
Chance to meet new Forester and AGM - Wednesday February 25th
Our AGM followed by a chance to meet our new forester, Fraser Bradbury, who will tell us about his day to day work at Bourne, his previous work experiences and what is going on in the wood at the moment. St John’s Ambulance Hall, St Peter’s Road, Bourne. 7.30pm. Open to public. Tea and coffee provided.
Dinosaur Repair Morning – Saturday March 14th
A morning spent repairing our existing dinosaurs ready for our next event. All Friends welcome, materials will be provided. We are likely to be patching up dinosaurs with paper, paint and tape. Meet 10am at Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne.
Dinosaur Trail – Easter Monday April 13th
A short trail around part of the wood, with a quiz about these prehistoric beasts. No experience necessary as some of the questions will be suitable for adults! Other children’s activities. Drinks. Signposted from car park. Open to public. 2pm to 4pm. Small charge for activities, but every entrant receives a prize.
Spring Flower Walk – Thursday April 30th
A walk led by Dr Richard Jefferson, looking for and identifying spring flowers in the wood. Meet 7pm, main car park. Open to public. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Rotary Club of Bourne 5 mile Charity run or walk at Bourne Woods

Walk to Cawthorpe Hall – June 14th
Date to be confirmed. A walk through the wood to the hall at Cawthorpe where we will look around the rose garden and have refreshments in the garden. This is only open to Friends and their families, if you are interested please phone to book in advance, 07760468052 as numbers will be limited.
Hedgerow Medicine Walk – Sunday July 19th
A walk and talk led by Debbie Lincoln, a traditional western medical herbalist. A chance to learn about what plants are available in the wood for medicinal purposes, and their uses. Meet 2pm, main car park. Open to public. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Den Building – Sunday August 16th
Due to the success of this event last year we are running it again, to give people the chance to build on their success! This is a family competition, with the ratio of one parent to one child ideally. Guidance will be available for those new to the event. Numbers will be limited so restricted to Friends in the first instance. If you would like to attend please phone 07760468052 to book. 2 sessions 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.
Tree Identification Walk - Saturday September 19th
As the trees start to fruit, this is a help in identifying them. Led by Cheryl Joyce, of Forestry Commission. Your chance to learn how to identify trees from their leaves and fruits. Open to public. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Fungi Walk – October 25th
Come and see how many fungi you can find in the wood, and then let Dr Vin Fleming tell you what they are. Meet main car park, 2pm. Open to public. Donation of £1 appreciated.
Weaving the willow sculpture – Saturday morning. November.
Date to be arranged nearer the time. Phone 07760468052 for details. Help us maintain this living sculpture. No experience necessary as training will be given. Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave, Bourne. 10am.
Santa in the Wood – Sunday December 13th
A chance for children to visit Santa in the magic of the wood, as he travels through on his busy schedule. He will be here 11am to 3pm. Small charge to see Santa. Other children’s activities, stalls. Bourne Wood Car park. Refreshments available.
