PROGRAMME 2007

‘Barn Owls’ Talk – Wednesday February 21st
A talk by Ian Langford on barn owls, following a very short AGM.  St John’s Ambulance Hall, St Peter’s Road, Bourne, 7.30pm.  Open to public. Tea and coffee provided.

Bat Box Construction – Saturday March 24th
Come and help us make some bat boxes to be put up in the wood.  All materials supplied.
Open to Friends only as room is restricted.  Meet 10am Forest Office.

Easter Fun Trail – Easter Monday April 9th

A short trail around part of the wood looking for objects that shouldn’t be there.  Other children’s activities.  Drinks. Signposted from the main car park.  Open to the public. 2pm to 4pm.  Small charge for activities, but every entrant receives a prize. 

Spring Wildflower Walk – Thursday April 26th
Led by Dr Richard Jefferson who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.  Starts 7.00pm.  Bourne Wood main car park.  Open to the public.  Donation £1 appreciated.

Walk to Edenham Vicarage Tea Party – 7th July
A walk through the wood to Edenham to have tea and refreshments at the Vicarage Tea Party.   Open to the Friends only. Date and time to be confirmed.  Please let Cindy know if you would like to attend on 01778 422152. Start at 1.45 from the Forest Office

Summer Magic Trail – Sunday July 29th

A celebration of Harry Potter's Birthday

A short trail around part of the wood with questions about magic, magicians and wizards. Please dress up as your favorite Harry Potter character. Other children’s activities.  Drinks.  Signposted from main car park.  Small charge for activities but every entrant receives a prize. 2pm to 4pm..

Bug and Butterfly Walk - Sunday 12th August
A walk led by Dr David Sheppard, looking for bugs and butterflies.  Come and learn about the fascinating life of our smallest creatures.  Meet 2pm, main car park.  Open to public.  Donation of £1 appreciated.

Plant Folklore Walk – Saturday September 22nd
Led by Bourne Wood Wildlife Ranger, Willie McLaughlin, join us for a wander around the wood learning what plants can do for us.  Meet 2pm, main car park.  Open to public.  Donation of £1 appreciated.

Fungus Foray – Sunday 7th October 
Have a wander around the wood collecting fungi and bring them back to learn all about their names and uses!  Led by Vin Flemming.  Open to public.  Meet main car park 2pm.  Donation of £1 appreciated.

Halloween Party -Sunday October 28th 
Starts at 3.30pm. Ghosts, witches and vampires should enter woods by the main car park. Ghost stories, a walk in the dark forest, crafts, cast a spell at the witches' coven, fancy dress judging 4.30pm for under 7s and 5.15pm for over 7's.

Weaving the Willow Sculpture - Saturday morning.  Late November
Date to be arranged.  A relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.  Meet Forest Office, Beech Ave. 10am.

Santa in the Wood - Sunday December 9th
Open to the public.  A chance for children to meet Santa in the wood.  Starts 11am to 3pm.  £1.50 per child to see Santa.  Bourne Wood Car Park.  Refreshments Available.  Craft stalls, activities etc.
