Butterfly & Bug Walk - Sunday August 12th
The walk was well attended with around 20 adults and 8 - 10 children enjoying a very gentle potter, stopping every few steps to look under leaves or peer into the grass. Dr Sheppard lent the children butterfly nets and little plastic pots to catch insects in, so we could all share what they found. The children were brilliant at catching all sorts of bugs (the adults all said it was because they were nearer the ground)! Due to the sharp shower before we started, we did not see any butterflies, but the bugs made up for it. Wasps, beetles, grasshoppers and spiders (complete with nursery web), were all found, and we did have a couple of dragonflies join us towards the end. A very informative and relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.
