Proposed sale of Ancient Woodland by
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!! IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!
THE FORESTRY COMMISSION HAVE PULLED OUT OF ITS DEAL WITH LARKFLEET HOMES Dear Mr Hallam We have had a number of exchanges of correspondence about Bourne Wood and I writing to update you on recent events. I expect you are aware of a public meeting that the Forestry Commission was invited to in order that we could take part in discussions about the issues raised. Forestry Commission's Director England, Paul Hill-Tout, and Forest Management Director for the East Midlands Region, Kevin Stannard Following the meeting on 19 June the Forestry Commission has decided to withdraw from all discussions with the developer on a proposal for a western bypass. Consideration of the need for a bypass and its route is a matter for the planning authority, through the Local Development Framework, and not for the Forestry Commission. The Forestry Commission has been managing the wood for the benefit of the people of Bourne and it was clear at the meeting that this was greatly valued by local people. In order to ensure that we continue to work with local people to take account of their needs in our future plans Kevin Stannard will be arranging a public meeting in the coming weeks. In addition to sharing ideas and perspectives this meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss how these opportunities could be realised. Kevin will be letting people have details of the meeting as soon as they are known. Yours sincerely Richard Barker 09.28 Thursday, 26th June 2008 Richard Barker works for the secretariat for the FC in Cambridge The Friends of Bourne Wood wood like to thank all those who campaigned to save the woods especially Quentin Davies MP and his team plus many others who passionately opposed these plans
